day 1 of 365

potato printing in the morning sun

beautiful owhiro bay collecting goodies for arts & crafts!

a quick thai green curry followed by apple crumble with custard and cream for dinner!

its 12:01am, and we're still crafting. somehow it's already September and the warm days to come have taunted us all day with bursts of sun though those dark, stormy clouds. but its chilly now, so we're wrapped up in layer after layer of wool jumpers because we can still feel winter slither under the front door and down the corridors.  today, we made plans after plans for summer time and weekends to come. And at this moment, i'm thrown back seven hours, back into Victoria's car, driving past a beach that we swore we would all return to in summer, and i realized that this, here, is beautiful.

poets, philosophers, writers, sociologists, and everyone else often somehow ends up contemplating the negative of life, the critical critic.  sure, we ought to be critical and very much aware of life with it's unexpected, mountainous terrain,  but we shouldn't let it consume us. maybe, in those moments of absolute beauty and happiness, we're simply too busy to stop, question, analyse, critique.

i think carrying my camera around sort of makes me slow my pace, but in a beautiful way, because i want to capture and preserve all those moments of spontaneous beauty, that pass as quickly through our lives as grains of sand between our fingertips.

to 364 more days of photo taking... :)
